When we look at a map of a place we’ve never been, it has little meaning to us. But as we travel the roads and experience the place, we add dimension and depth. We take a flat piece of paper and fill it with memories and meaning. The Lord’s Prayer is just a handful of verses; seven thoughts. But if we are brave enough to pour ourselves into each section and set our souls on discovering each place, the Lord’s Prayer can become like the map of our favorite vacation destination.
In Luke 11:29-36 Jesus rebukes the inclination of our hearts to seek and value signs. Just as Jonah became a sign, Jesus Himself is the sign We are to believe in Him. At Jonah’s preaching, the people of Nineveh repented and were saved. In the same way, the Queen of the south praised the God of Israel after she heard Solomon.
What describes us more in our Gratitude to God? Are we the 9 who left, or the Samaritan who returned to thank Jesus? Ultimately when we understand who Jesus is, part of our gratitude to God is expressed in a humility that is both emotive and expressive.
Oh how wondrous!. This Christmas season is an awesome reminder of the fact that, in humility, Jesus lowered himself to be born among us imperfect humans.
For those who follow Christ, Christmas is about celebrating the ultimate gift – the birth of our saviour. This season we give glory to God for the peace He blesses us with through the birth of his son. This peace is available to all.
It’s time to give Bible another chance. Even if you’ve tried it all a few times without success. The story of Jesus calling His first disciples maybe your inspiration.
