Maturing in Christ

As we grow in our faith several things are important  for our spiritual maturity

God puts us in different situations to help us mature in faith.  There are several things that will make us mature in Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:18

1. Maturity requires commitment
Nothing changes your life as commitment.
Your commitments may develop or destroy you; but either way they will define you.
People these days are afraid of commitment. Or don’t fully commit for number of reasons. Or commit to the wrong things.
What about your commitment to spiritual things?
What can I do today to be more committed to Christ today?
Make a decision. Christianity is a lifestyle of following in Jesus’ steps. It’s about having a commitment to imitate Him and various areas of your life.

2. Maturity is about getting all the help you can get
2 Timothy 3:16
Acts 20:32

God’s word has the power to transform you. Its important that we recognize its authority and let it transform us.
How important is Gods word to you? Are you reading it every day? Examining it? God gave us His word to help us transform.
We all need people to help us transform.
We need honest trusting relationships to help us grow. We need people around us who can support, challenge and encourage us.

James 1:2-4
Difficulties in life make us grow. But God has a purpose behind every challenge.
It’s the fire of suffering that brings forth the gold of godliness. Heart felt prayers brings us closer to God

3. Maturity in Christ is a process
Philippians 1:3-6
It takes a life to mature in Christ. God cares more about growth than the speed.
We live in a very impatient society. We expect things to happen right now.
