Sometimes it’s difficult to cut through the clutter with all the things that demand our attention. We will examine the timeless wisdom of the scriptures as we decipher what is the only thing that counts.
Today we are warned about the dangers of focusing on appearances because the most beautiful outside can contain the most rotten core. We also shouldn’t overcomplicate/oversimplify the gospel as this can enhance the problem, not take it away. Instead, we are encouraged to focus our attention on our faith in Christ resulting in the only thing that counts: Love.
Sometimes we put ourselves through so much pressure and allow social media to impact us. In our lives, there are a lot of things that pull our attention. What is important to us? Our family and our bosses.
In Christ, we now have freedom and what matters now is our faith in Christ. It does not matter what we do, if it does not result in love, then we are misguided. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself in love. Christ should be sufficient for us. We feel like because we have freedom in Christ, we can do whatever we want.
Grace is a magnificent teacher. It teaches us to say no to ungodliness and worldly passion. What has Grace taught you? Does it produce eagerness to do what is good? If we want to hear something, our itching ears will find it.
Matthew 6: 31-34
What counts is seeking Christ and finding him. We’ve got to pray for discernment. Where is our focus?
Micah 6: 7-8
What do we offer God? To act justly and to show mercy. They are some things that we overthink and some things we oversimplify. We are the temple of God. If that makes us ignorant, then we have learnt nothing. God expects us to act justly, show mercy, and walk humbly before God. Christ must be sufficient for us.
