Joseph was very prominent in Egypt and he had a good life there, he reasoned that the blessings of God will be greater than what Egypt could offer. Joseph trusted the future promises of God. Sometimes we put our hope in our successes and not in God.

Our hope should always be in the trust that God has given us. Joseph did not forget who God was despite of his success in Egypt, he believed that God would take them out of captivity. When we put our hope and trust in God it impacts how we live our lives. Joseph request was a constant reminder of the past and what God will do in the future, that is why he did not want to be buried in Egypt.

We too shall overcome because we trusted in the promises of God. Sometimes when we are going through a rough time as disciples we are wondering if it worth it- putting God first. Our Christian journey can sometimes be challenging but we need to keep our focus on God.
