Many ministers, shepherds and teachers are heading toward the second half of life if they aren’t there already. After such a promising first half, Solomon, even with all of his wisdom, failed in the second half.
What are some factors that could keep us faithful as we grow older? In the previous sermon we talked about the importance of friendship and wise counsel. Growing in humility instead of growing more prideful, even as we gain knowledge and experience, is key. Continuing to learn and not getting set in our ways is good for our brains and our souls.
What do you see as potential stumbling blocks as you grow older in the faith?
It’s not all negative. We can have a great impact for many years. What opportunities do you see when you think about what’s ahead as a Christian?
Like Solomon, take a moment to pray to God for wisdom—not just wisdom to govern or lead but also to live well and keep in step with the Spirit in the coming years and decades.
